Koko the production manager & first assistant director and creative director is a revolution for her personal rights - on set!
Be the revolution this #pridemonth
Koko is an open book of kindness, drive, and advocacy for the safety and comfortability of women on set.
A chat with Koko: For me queerness isn't the spotlight of pride month, but rather our dynamic cultures and diverse streams of human identity. This, through my lens, makes my everyday experiences more compelling. Celebrating International Pride month means continuing to carry my own narrative and expanding my voice of impact. Having women of different identities feel seen, safe and considered is the ordinary world I strive to live in.
A revolutionary moment in my production management and assistant director career is advocacy for wearing shorts on set on extremely hot days. To lift us up in my light is a constant opportunity to materialise this on a collective effort.
My mother and grandmother lend me the courage to trust my own leadership. One thing I know for sure is that in my later years I'll look back at the trails my spirit left, built and impacted. It is to know and see leadership within the film and television entertainment industry having taken shape - to make our set etiquette and experiences professional, safe and inclusive.
I identify as a she/her/ they/them. I like to see identities contextualised through inclusivity of our characteristics. SWIFT thrives to advocate for women of all natures. To know that their Safety Contact Officer Program has just launched for our sets we work on inspires the possibility to believe in us moving closer to a professional setting that governs our practices on set.
