Stories of superheroes, epic battles, and post-apocalyptic worlds came to life on the vibrant stage of Comic Con Cape Town! SWIFT members Carmen Ziervogel (illustrator), Inka Kendzia (animator) , Catherine Grenfell (post sound), Georgia Court (DOP) , and Uga Carlini (writer & director) had the unique privilege of diving into the largest multi-genre event of the year, heralding a fusion of comics, anime, sci-fi, and gaming like never before.
"For me, what is really important about this is the fact that it was a SWIFT call-out, IT WORKS. This was literally a SWIFT call-out, and we responded to it. We really wanted to premiere at Comic-Con United States with our film, Beyond the Light Barrier, but one of their rules was not met by us. We were heartbroken. We got to Comic Con in the end; it was in Cape Town. It was an absolutely awesome day and journey."

Reminiscent of its humble beginnings in San Diego back in 1970, Comic Con has evolved into a global extravaganza that serves as a unifying force for fans and creators across the globe. Being part of SWIFT means unlocking doors to such enriching experiences! It's not just about connections; it's about forging a community with other incredible women in film and television. "My sons were there as Black Panther and Spiderman, and I made them sit on the stage with us," says Creative Writer and Director, Uga Carlini. It was both entertainment and a family affair it seems
