[International News] New Chapter for Women in Film: SWIFT Namibia Launches
SWIFT launches a branch in Namibia led by co-founders Ndakalako Shilongo and Othilia Mungoba.

In a groundbreaking move, the Namibia Film Commission and SWIFT SA have joined forces to launch SWIFT Namibia, a pioneering initiative dedicated to empowering women in the film and television industry.

This exciting new chapter aims to bridge the gender gap in the sector, providing a dynamic platform for women to connect, collaborate, and flaunt their talents. With a focus on promoting gender equality and challenging stereotypes, SWIFT Namibia is poised to revolutionise the industry.

At the launch, Deputy Minister Modestus Amutse emphasised the critical need for initiatives like SWIFT Namibia, highlighting the importance of investing in the creative sector and recognizing the immense potential of women in film and TV.

Zanele Mthembu, SWIFT SA's acting program manager, echoed this sentiment, stressing the need for recognition, mentorship, and a conducive environment for women's growth in the industry. “We are looking forward to working with our filmmaker sisters. We want to profile them, like we do in South Africa. We want to see them network and thrive in the industry,” Mthembu pressed.

With a commitment to safety, inclusivity, and empowerment, SWIFT Namibia is set to make a lasting impact on the film and TV landscape. Join us in celebrating this exciting new chapter for women in film!
