SWIFT’s Representation at the Berlinale Roundtable on Decolonising Storytelling

We are pleased to announce that SWIFT (Sisters Working in Film and Television) was invited by our esteemed partner, Power to Transform, to participate in the Berlinale Roundtable at the Berlinale - Berlin International Film Festival. The focus of this engaging discussion will revolve around the crucial theme of decolonising storytelling, addressing the nuances and complexities inherent in narrative representation.

It took place on Friday the 16th of February 2024, at the Canada Embassy in Berlin, Germany, SWIFT will be proudly represented by our distinguished board member, Minenhle Luthuli. Ms. Luthuli brings a wealth of experience and insight to the table, and her presence underscores our commitment to fostering inclusivity and diversity within the realm of film and television.

This event is intricately aligned with the prestigious Berlinale Film Festival, further emphasizing its significance within the global cinematic landscape. SWIFT has been actively participating in this dynamic platform since 2018, and the recent roundtable marks our fifth consecutive year of engagement. Over the years, our involvement in the Berlinale has afforded us valuable opportunities to contribute to meaningful conversations, forge partnerships, and champion initiatives that resonate with our mission.

We extend our gratitude to Power To Transform for extending this invitation, providing SWIFT with a platform to contribute to the dialogue on decolonising storytelling. As we navigate the ever-evolving landscape of the film and television industry, SWIFT remains steadfast in its dedication to promoting diverse voices and narratives.
